We Go Together Like Hot Cocoa & Marshmallows

Hey Y'all!!!  Happy Saturday!  Teresa here showcasing a fun new stamp set & matching die.  Oh how I love S'mores! And hot cocoa. Nothing like a fire in the fire pit, friends gathered round with marshmallows roasting over the fire. It's called Toasted Marshmallows.  Be sure to check out the Pear Blossom Press EZ-Lights I used to light up the flames as well. All the details for making this light-up card yourself are below:

I colored all the images on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White paper using Copic markers.

Here are the links for both the Stamp & Die sets:

Once I had the images of the cute little bear, marshmallows & fire colored, I used the Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink and Ink N' Splatters Birch Tree stencils to create the beautiful winter background. It is cut to 5 1/4" x 3 3/4".

Here is the link to the Birch Tree stencil:

Birch Tree Stencil

I started with some blue card stock that matches the Salty Ocean distress ink. Perfect background color to make the card base. The base is cut to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4" on the long side. Make sure you use your bone folder to burnish the fold so the card stock doesn't tear.

I cut another piece of Neenah paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and used Crackling Campfire, Spiced Marmalade & Fossilized Amber distress inks to color all around the edges of the paper. The colors look amazingly like the colors of the Copic Markers I used to color the flames of the fire. I glued this piece on top of the blue card base with wet glue.

Have you ever used EZ-Lights from Pear Blossom Press? They are one of the most fun embellishments. You should try them. I punched three little holes in the flames. Behind each hole is a little light. When you press on the correct place on the card the lights light up. Looks just like a little fire. So much fun. In addition to coloring the logs and flames I added a little Crystal Stickles on top of the flames. Can't ever have enough glitter.

I added some additional dimension to the little bear by using Colorless Blender from a bottle sprinkled on a little piece of material. Just used a little and pressed down on where I had colored. Gives him the appearance of having fur. Make sure you color the bear fur first and use the Colorless Blender before you color anything else or his clothes will have the appearance of fur too. You can find the Colorless Blender HERE.

The mechanism for the EZ-Lights is right under the little 'PRESS' button on the card. It is glued underneath the layer with the birch trees. I punched a single hole in the birch tree layer to allow the 3 lights to come up and be glued to the back of the flames. The logs and flames are raised up with foam tape as is the bear. I used strips of foam tape to line the outside of the birch tree layer. This allows room for the mechanism and wires underneath. Sort of like you would make a shaker card.

The 'PULL' tab is simply a piece of white card stock that is wedged in between the batteries and the rest of the mechanism so the battery doesn't drain before the card reaches its forever home. Just pull the tab out and press the button. So cool!

The sentiment is from the same stamp set. There are several to choose from. I chose 'We go together like hot cocoa & marshmallows'. Attached two sets of marshmallows in the corners and popped the sentiment up with foam tape. I used Liquid Pearls White Opal to 'color' the marshmallows instead of coloring them with Copic Markers. Gave them a little sparkle.

Winter is coming. Make sure you stock up on cocoa and marshmallows for you and all your friends!
