I started by making the card base from a rich piece of Starry Sky card stock that matched the patterned paper, Kitty and the cake perfectly. The card base is 8 1/2 x 4 1/4, scored at 4 1/2 on the long side. Just a helpful tip - Make sure you used your bone folder to crease the score line well so the paper doesn't tear.

I cut a beautiful piece of patterned paper from the Sweet Blue Celebrations paper pad at 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and glued it with wet glue to the card base.

Here is the link to the patterned paper:

Sweet Blue Celebrations 6 x 6 Paper Pad

I cut two more pieces of Starry Sky at 3 1/2" x 4" and 5" x 2", and two more pieces of Sweet Blue Celebrations at 4 7/8" x 1 7/8" and 3 7/8" x 3 7/8". Both pieces of Sweet Blue Celebrations are glued with wet glue to the two pieces of Starry Sky. The rectangular paper is glued flat to the background and the more square piece is popped with up foam tape. Obviously you can make pieces whatever sizes you love.

I used the Scalloped Hexagon and Inverted Scalloped Hexagon to cut a piece of Starry Sky to go directly behind Kitty. It's glued flat to the polkadot piece of patterned paper. Kitty is popped up right on top of all of it for a little extra dimension. She's the star after all.

Birthday Kitties has two fun sentiments. Added some glitter on the icing. What cake doesn't need more glitter, right?

Aren't the Birthday Kitties just fabulous?
